Ars Technica reports that Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak was a featured speaker at Abilene Christian University's recent Connected Summit. Wozniak spoke about the need for teachers to embrace new technologies as a way to reach out to students that may soon consider themselves "failures." A long time advocate for technology in the classroom, he cited that very little has changed over the last 40 years to foster student creativity or alter information delivery methods.
Personally, I have always found it discouraging that over my lifetime classroom methods have barely changed. Wozniak has a much greater scope (as he is a little older than I) and I have to say that I am surprised to see just how long we have been talking about technology's role in the classroom. He speaks of enhancing differentiation, inquiry-based learning, and authenticity (although he doesn't use those terms) in our schools. Mr. Wozniak, I agree with you. Teachers must embrace new technologies and make them an integral part of every classroom.
